The Benthic Fauna and Sediments of the Nearshore Zone off Panama City Beach, Florida Metadata also available as - [ Questions & Answers ] - [ Parseable text ] Metadata. This data set contains submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) and corals for the Florida Panhandle. Vector polygons in the data set represent SAV and coral distribution. Species-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information are stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.

oyster reefs, mangroves, offshore hardbottom and nearshore hardbottom, including worm reef. For the purposes of this report, southeast Florida refers to Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Martin counties and the southeast Florida coral reef tract (Banks et al. ) refers to coral reef habitats offshore of these four counties (Figure 2).File Size: 1MB. The beach nourishment was at the south end of Palm Beach (Fig. 1; °S, °E).Here, ab m 3 of sand from Currumbin Creek, a nearby tidal inlet, were deposited on the upper beach at a thickness of about 1 m and for about m along the beach. The sand was placed on top of the beach in a slurry form: some of this sand moved down to the water line by gravity, Cited by:

Reine, Douglas G. Clarke, and Charles Dickerson ABSTRACT: Many open-water habitats that provide Essential Fish Habitat functions are also thought to be particularly susceptible to dredging project impacts. Colonization and succession of benthic macroinvertebrates in Arcadia Lake, an urban reservoir, were studied for four years.

Physicochemical conditions including water temperature, dissolved oxygen concentrations, pH, specific conductance, and Secchi disc depth were also recorded. Colonization of the reservoir occured fairly rapidly through a sequence of Cited by: Benthic Faunal Colonization of an Offshore Borrow Pit in Southeastern Florida PDF Download.

Over two years after the original creation of a sand excavation pit 8 km off the Louisiana coast, benthic macrofauna communities and sedimentary characteristics are still effected. Macrofaunal communities inside the pit had lower abundance, biomass, and diversity than communities outside the pit.

A large hole 3 to 6 m deep was left on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico after more than 5, cubic meters of sediment were dredged for the beach fill.
